At the request of Mr. C. H. Gale, Chief

Draughtsman in this Department, I forward a letter in triplicate

addressed to the Right Honourable the Secretary of State for the

Colonies.

I beg reference to C.S.0.

in which a

similar request was recommended by my predecessor.

Mr. Gale is a qualified Engineer and

naturally wishes to be designated an Engineer.

I have of course, had no opportunity of

judging of his capabilities in charge of works of construction or

maintenance, but from his training would have no hesitation in re-

commending him for such a charge.

I therefore recommend his request for

favourable consideration.
